Been a few times here.😊
All middle class people as the only ones that could afford to fly back then. All wearing ties including the luggage handler's. Good that they destroyed the original buildings as they would have asbestos in them. But then so did the new building until after 2000.
Loved on the estate for 71 years will I ever get to see it open ? Doubtful
Brilliant! - Thanks
It's a shame the hippies dragged it down to the depths. Lived on all 4 of the crescents in the late 70s early 90s. Had some good time and some bad but glad i was there.

Super post war modernity….

Great film. Lots of memories. I was in the same class at All Hallows as a couple of the lads who made this film

lived on heywood house flats used to walk the railway lines to town every other day so many memories good and bad
2:23 Think my uncle was responsible for that graffiti 🙈 My Dad was known as Breadman, used to sell cigs outside the gala, i loved hearing his stories about Wythenshawe back then ❤️
That is quite a collection
Amazing memories, thanks for uploading.
Thank you. Ex pat now living on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia born Ardwick 1954, moved to Heald Green late 60s .
Whoever decided to ruin piccadily gardens needs a slap. Very sad seeing it then to how it is now with all the cranks
Best times! Worst thing they ever did was changing Piccadilly Gardens, it was so beautiful back then.
Is that Jonny Mager brew crew at 5.28 ?? New age trav
What a city centre it was back then.......all gone now and hardly welcoming.....😮💨...
Wow! Thanks! I was born in Wythington Hospital in 1957. I lived in Baxter Gardens until the late sixties. Do you have any footage of Royal Oak school, Battersby Gardens, Hall Lane shops?
The city centre rivaling Londons nightlife. Big clubs, money spent inside and out…
Great compilation and music.👍🏻
Great photos. Lance Murphy 5 alpha
I enjoyed Sharston Swimming pool, lived 2 minutes from it.
Tribe of twat parties were fun a dj at under the M1 :)
Great video does anybody remember the dillamore family from brookcot Road?
Forbuoys isn't there any more either, I think it became a day-labour shop at one point and now it's another newsagents? Right next to boots! Rod's Barbers is long gone too after he passed away, I think it's a funeral directors now? Near the end of the row.
Oterbourn close rember it well
Sharston Baths. Do you have any photographs of the Chapel? Or Chapel House please? Happy to purchase. Thank you.
Loved watching this
This was so emotional I was in tears at the end, I am so glad that I lived my life I when did, being born in 1946 in West Gorton.Accept no substitutes -Town Was Town
Picadilly Gardens is a lovely memory in my mind. It should never have been destroyed and replaced with all that horrible concrete..like something from Communist Russia.
AND NOT AN IMMIGRANT IN SIGHT,,,HAPPY DAYS
Finally found video of Manchester l remember poking at names of stores remembering seeing Piccadilly gardens as l remembered them left Britain in 59 for states went to Manchester high for girls worked on street all newspaper offices were also for British rail payroll next to central station rode train from London road to Longsight every day lived on kirky lane on embankment across from station. house is still there this was a great video bringing back good memories thank you

As of 14th June 2023 The Naval Club has been Demolished.
Such a disgrace to replace Piccadilly gardens with that horrible building and disgusting bus station, what tourists must think what a dump.
Met my girlfriend in wythenshawe in 1973 we've been married 48 yr now. . . . . . .
1001 memories what a great video. I feel sad at some of the stores that have gone Pauldens ( Debenhams) Sylvana, Littlewoods, Henry’s, woolworth my youth.😅😅😅😅❤
@paulmason6474 Hello Paul, Yes, I recall Henry's, you are going back long ago with that memory. I've lived in South England, for past 50 years but somehow still regard myself a Manc. Anyway, Peace to all.
This vid is a drug to me, and many other, old SKOOL, Mancs. How I miss those days. What a brilliant choice of records to accompany the vid. Hopefully, I'll be back In years to come, and able to comment again. BTW, I'm living a few hundred yards where Sharston baths used to be.
Brought back lots of brilliant memories, thanks for that strolle through my childhood
Sharston baths the best in Manchester along with Ashton under lyne baths. The new and the old.
I had a job delivering CO2 cylinders to most of those pubs.
I used to train with jimmy egan in the gym at the top back in early 90s top boozer back then the bench
Used to walk past the place to get the bus up at Civic, rain or shine everyday…it was usually dark and raining.😊
I remember Greenbrow Parade very well. The Lantern and The Eagle too. Thanks for the memories.
Beautiful memories of the town and country of my youth. And though we never had a pot to piss in , I miss the town and country and it’s people so much, take a good look at what our politicians have given us now
I love these old footages they make me feel like a time traveller but these are different . I was actually there at the time and in the places filmed . Weird it was now then and now it isn't don't understand this time passing thing and what it's all about thing. Perhaps I will when I die ? or maybe not?
Brownley road is shit now.....Wythenshawe wasn't designed for such an urban look.
Surprising how much remains much the same .. Thank you!
